 TTC
has been integral to several significant energy "firsts":
-
Managed the 7.3 MW, 1100 unit installation $18 M federal solar photovoltaic deployment
program for the Utility PhotoVoltaic Group, called TEAM-UP
- TTC
created the first utility-oriented solar power association in 1992, the Utility
PhotoVoltaic Group (UPVG), which eventually became the largest such association
with over 100 electric utilities from around the world. Later in 2000, this organization
became the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA).
- Managed
the groundbreaking event for the first U.S. multi megawatt fuel cell installation,
for Santa Clara Electric Utility
- Managed the first two annual
conferences for the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE)
- Conducted
an exploratory workshop at EPRI, with university and industry hydrogen leaders,
which led to TTC's creation of the National Hydrogen Association (NHA) in 1988. TTC continues
to manage the NHA.
- Performed the first fuel cell market research
for the American Public Power Association, and conducted early workshops with
utilities, which led to TTC's creation and management of the Fuel Cell Commercialization
Group (FCCG) for market acceptance of FuelCell Energy's carbonate technology
- Mobilized the interest and created the structure to form and then
manage the first utility-oriented biomass group, the Utility Biomass Energy Commercialization Association (UBECA)
- Created the H2U Student Design Contest, the first student competition
for hydrogen designs, for the National Hydrogen Association, now managed by the NHA's Hydrogen Education Foundation
- Created
the NHA Annual Hydrogen Conference in 1988, the largest hydrogen conference in the U.S.
and the longest-running annual hydrogen conference in the world. This Conference
is the premier showcase for hydrogen and fuel cell industries. TTC continues to manage this event.
- Created the independent Renewable Generation Program Advisory
Committee, for the Sacramento Municipal Utility District. TTC continues to manage
this project.
- Created the strategic planning tools and managed
the first R&D screening meeting for the Cooperative Research Network of the
National Rural Electric Cooperative Association
- Performed the
first technical and economic assessment for the use of solar to power the Mauna
Loa Observatory, for Hawaii Electric Light Company
- Created the first industry-supported education foundation for hydrogen, the Hydrogen Education Foundation
- Conducted safety studies for two auto companies to introduce the first fleets of hydrogen vehicles to the Washington, DC area
- USDA Forest Service Wood Education Resource Center (WERC) awards TTC client BTEC a $58,000 grant to advance education and outreach on biomass thermal energy
- Helped 22 companies create the non-profit American Biogas Council, the first (and only) anaerobic digester advocacy group in the United States.
